Bernard Beck Photo True Jew, Bernard Beck's second published book is an attempt to respond to the growing ideological division within Judaism. Mr. Beck was raised in a liberal-leaning Orthodox Jewish home and attended Yeshiva through High School. He was a founder of B'nai Keshet, the Reconstructionist synagogue in Montclair, NJ. At present, Mr. Beck belongs to Ahavas Sholom, a Conservative synagogue in Newark, NJ. He considers himself an observant Jew, although he finds the segmentation within Judaism difficult to accept. Through extensive research Mr. Beck has discovered a primary and somewhat surprising link between the various Jewish denominations. This book is well documanted and is easy to read. Because its content is in opposition to some commonly held beliefs, the book provides a good basis for healthy discussion and debate.

Mr. Beck's first published book, The Bible: The Greatest Marketing Tool Ever Written, is a refreshingly new take on the narrative in the first two books of the Torah. It is a unique and easily accessable introduction and explanation of both the Torah and modern marketing techniques. 
Mr. Beck brings a new perspective to the study of Torah in which he respectfully explores the various biblical stories and commentaries in light of modern-day marketing techniques. His discussion is not about marketing of the bible, but rather, the use of marketing within the bible. In his book, Mr. Beck theoretically poses the following challenge to today's most brilliant marketing authorities: "How would you use marketing to bring about the development and continuity of the Jewish People?"

Bernard Beck is a successful small business entrepreneur who retired from day to day business at age 52 and spent the next 15 years as a marketing consultant and as a professor in the MBA program at Rutgers University.  This gave him an opportunity to pursue various careers simultaneously. He did his marketing consulting in the mornings, taught Hebrew School in the afternoons, and taught marketing, advertising, and sales management in the MBA program at Rutgers University in the evenings. 


 At present he is working on his third book which provides a concrete proposal for the development of the entrepreneurial rabbi and the self-sustaining synagogue.
